Lisa Anne Smith was born and raised in Burnaby B.C. After graduating from a Travel and Tourism Business Certificate program at BCIT, she found her preferred career path as a stay-at-home mom, volunteer and writer. At her children’s elementary school, she coordinated environmental, fitness-focused initiatives such as “Way to Go” and “Safe Arrival” for the school commute. She was a longtime docent with the Museum of Vancouver’s Education Department, delivering a variety of curriculum-based programs for elementary school students. She is actively involved as a Board Member/part-owner of Old Hastings Mill Store Museum, (Vancouver’s oldest surviving building, c. 1868) and also volunteers at the Roundhouse Community Centre’s Engine 374 Pavilion. Lisa has had four books published with Vancouver-based Ronsdale Press, and two through her own company, Time Talk Press. When not pounding the keyboard, she enjoys long walks, cross country skiing and travelling. Lisa lives in Vancouver, BC with her husband Doug, occasionally resident grown children and “grandcat” Ellie.

"This was such a great read. How Lisa Anne Smith managed to get all those personal accounts of the events is beyond me but she did such a great job of piecing them together. The book certainly doesn't read like a boring history textbook; it's the exact opposite."
